Dubbe Moulder designed this 7,000 sq. ft. plan with an added gallery, display spaces, and storage to the historic Carnegie Library building, built in 1906.

UINTA COUNTY MUSEUM

Evanston, Wyoming  •  7,000 sq. ft.

The Uinta County Museum located in the heart of downtown Evanston, Wyoming, is housed in the historic Carnegie Library. Rotating exhibits showcase different time periods in Uinta County and surrounding communities, with a focus on the architecture and lifestyle of each era. As the mission states the museum “strives to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Uinta County and the surrounding region, and to make our collections available to the public.”

The museum board commissioned Dubbe Moulder Architects to design an addition to address growth over the past twenty years and provide more space. The project needed to meet requirements such as the enlargement of the conservation work space, and compliance with the Secretary of the Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

Kurt Dubbe led a team which provided architectural and planning services for the addition. The design process involved conducting a conditions assessment to examine the structure. Once that was complete a strategic implementation plan was formulated.
