MUNGER MOUNTAIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Jackson Hole, Wyoming • 77,000 sq. ft.
Design Team: Kurt Dubbe, AIA; Mackenzie King, John Fabian
Dubbe Moulder Architects worked in conjunction with Tobin & Associates, Engineering Design Associates and Y2 Consultants to design and engineer the new 77,000 sq.ft. Munger Mountain Elementary School just south of the Town of Jackson, Wyoming.
Located on a beautiful 20-acre site, the school is Wyoming’s only dual immersion magnet school and opened for the 2018-2019 school year with a capacity for 588 students. MMES has a modern design that prioritizes safety and features large common areas that create “flex space” for classes to overlap and work together.
The site allowed for the installation of 72 southeast-facing solar panels which generate 64,000-67,000 kilowatt hours per year. This energy is fed into the local power grid helping the school district with their operating costs, and is a visible demonstration of the district’s commitment to renewable energy as well as an educational opportunity for the school’s students.
This project was state funded through the Wyoming School Facilities Department.
