Totaro Residence I Dubbe Moulder Architects

A residence in the King Eider section of Rafter J, custom-designed, with traditional siding, a modern interior and roof lines matching the nearby hills.

Design Team: Chris Moulder, AIA; Bryan Gleason, Nereida Ortiz

The design of this house is a mix of styles, with a traditional exterior and modern interior. Roofs are placed over each space below, merging them with those of the hills the the east. Light and dark stained siding, columns and trims add a subtle contrast. Flat stones were set in two separate areas, to create a path to the home entrance, and a patio by the front door.

The floor plan flows easily from one room to the next with tall opened doorways, and a high angled ceiling create more visual space. The east side of the house is almost all windows, letting bright light in the living room, dining room and kitchen. The master bedroom and bathroom area are designed with the same flowing and well-lit up concepts. A couple of smaller guest bedrooms and bathroom are the perfect addition to accommodate extra family members. The east-facing patio is a small heaven, intimate, where light abounds. The house owner has furnished the interior themselves, and their modern and eclectic taste has created an harmonious home that takes advantage of and emphasizes all features.
