TRAILS END RANCH
Bridger-Teton National Forest • Square Feet: 160+ acre
Design Team: Chris Moulder, AIA; Michael Yerman, Eric Wandmacher
Trails End Ranch is an inholding over 160 acres in Bridger Teton National Forest. The development will be marketed as a year-round destination resort and will consist of a main lodge facility; other amenity structures will include spa and fitness center, fly shop, Nordic center, and equestrian center, auxiliary support buildings; and nineteen high-end custom, single family residences that will be used in a long-term rental pool.
DMA was hired to master plan the entire site, develop a program for the guest ranch, and the subsequent design and documentation of all structures on the ranch including the single family residences.
The atmosphere that Trails End Ranch wants to portray should be reflected in the architectural styling of the residences. The design may have a rustic feel with nod to traditional National Park architecture, yet will incorporate many contemporary design features. The plans will be spacious in design, varying in size and style. The exterior of the residences may want to reinforce the connection to the Ranch’s history by incorporating building materials such as native stone, logs, rough-sawn or hand-hewn timbers, and shake roofs. Some of the interiors may be furnished in a decor highlighting the true spirit of the West, while others may have a contemporary rustic feel. Each residential complex may have a main house, guest house, garage, and barn all incorporated in the design. All residences constructed in Teton County, Wyoming must comply with local buidling codes and requirements.
The primary residence may range in square footage from 3,900 to 7,000 sq. ft., depending on the lot acreage. Each main residence is envisioned to encompass a master suite, great room, a spacious kitchen, several bedroom and bathroom combinations, a mudroom and laundry facilities, and a garage ranging in size from 500 to 1,000 sq. ft. To capture each lot’s unique surroundings, the design of the residences shall incorporate large windows placed at strategic view corridors.
