Near the shores of Pacific Creek, inside a rare inholding within Grand Teton National Park, north of Jackson, Wyoming, lies the Suman Gentle residence, which DMA had the opportunity to design. This area of the Jackson Hole Valley has been a long standing location for hunting and trapping lodges due primarily to the abundant amount of wildlife and fishing areas that surrounds.

This particular piece of property is fairly flat on an elevated bench, surrounded by mature spruce and fir trees, while providing an enhanced view of the Teton Mountains as well as other neighboring mountains.

The existing log and frame structures have remained on the property since first breaking ground, with exception of the main cabin which was tragically lost years before.

The Suman’s and the Gentle’s are joint owners of this incredible property. Rick and Mary Suman spearheaded the project which required two unique Master Suites, one at the main level and one on the second level of the house. A smaller additional bedroom is located downstairs, but there is plenty of room to entertain and accommodate guests in the basement, the game/tv room and on the second floor loft as well.

The Suman’s and Gentle’s wanted the home designed in a way so it was capable to entertain in all four seasons. Regardless of what people generally think of Wyoming weather, it doesn’t always snow here. Spring, summer, and fall are months when doors and windows can remain open letting in cooling breezes. Chris Moulder designed a screened in porch with stone and log and featuring an inside/outside fire pit, allowing the Suman’s and Gentle’s to casually flow from indoors to outdoors with ease in any season.

The house is composed of a creative mix of rough, indigenous materials such as stone, log and timber to build a comfortable, secure, and longstanding structure for the families to enjoy and entertain with guests.
